Welcome to the City of Sunbury Cemetery Map & 1936 Flood Research website! This website is the culmination of a joint community project between Bucknell University Senior Environmental Studies & Science Department students and the City of Sunbury during spring 2025. The project team worked diligently to provide a lasting resource for residents of Sunbury and anyone interested in its history. This website contains a detailed ArcGIS map of the Sunbury Cemetery, 1936 flood information, and photographs of the flood.

The detailed interactive Sunbury Cemetery map, which you can find by clicking on the tab above, shows the location and picture of each headstone in the cemetery. Headstones are searchable by name, date of birth, and date of death. The 1936 flood information page provides a historical overview of this important event and its impact on Sunbury. The flood destroyed cemetery records, which we are finally recovering through the creation of this digital resource. The flood picture gallery provides insight into the scope and severity of the 1936 flood and serves as a record of what helped shape Sunbury today.
